One of the toughest scripts you’ll have to memorize for RTC is the list of “The Eleven General Orders of a Sentry”. This is a set of rules that every sentry, or member set to stay on guard at a post until relieved, must follow. The guidelines actually apply to multiple branches of the military, with a few minor differences between them. We’ll of course stick to learning the Navy ones specifically. None of the individual steps on the list is particularly difficult, but half of them are pretty long and consist of multiple items. Not only will you need to have the entire list memorized before the first week of your training ends, but you will be expected to state them on command, in ANY order you are asked. Since this is a tougher subject to memorize, I’ll be breaking it down into multiple sets in the future. I recommend tackling just 2 or 3 rules at a time, and once you have them all memorized you’ll need to practice saying them in any order, based on the assigned number. That might be the toughest part, so email me any questions or tips you want me to address. Below is a one-sheet you can download and print out for reference. I highly recommend putting it somewhere you’ll naturally look at it often, like the inner cover of a binder. I’ll be making cheat sheets for your phone later on, in sets of 2 or 3 orders per sheet so that it’s legible. ![]()

Just Call Me Kilo
Although I'm a navy brat from a military family, I'm quite anxious and reserved. Therefore I'm not one to show my face and be overly social, but I like to help where I can! Ask me a question nicely if there's a topic you need help learning about and I'll see if I can address it. Archives
